Shader options: Depending on the selected shader, you might
see different options to set up their visual properties.
Using these controls makes the management of materials a lot easier
and allow reuse.
Info: Many of the materials options work with the same settings
regardless of the renderer you choose. That is the case for Cycles and
Eevee.
5.2 Materials and shaders
After you create a material, the first thing you have to do is choose a
proper shader. A shader is one of the most important elements of any
material because it controls how the object interacts with light. For
instance, you can have a material that behaves like glass or an opaque
surface.
What sets the look of any material is the shader you choose from a list
of available options (Figure 5.3). Look for the Surface option at the
Material tab.
